Shirika lisilo la kiserikali la Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) linalopata msaada kutoka serikali ya watu wa marekani kwa kupitia mashirika yake ya USAID na CDC wamekabidhi gari kwa shirika mwenza la Ariel Glaser Pediatric Healthcare Initiative (AGPAHI) ambapo gari hilo litatumika katika mradi wa kuzuia maambukizi ya VVU kutoka kwa mama kwenda kwa mtoto.Makabidhiano hayo yamefanyika leo asubuhi katika ofisi za EGPAF jijini Dar es salaam Pichani kushoto ni Mkurugenzi mwandamizi wa shirika la EGPAF Dr. Chrispine Kimario akikabidhi fungua ya gari aina ya NISSAN PATROL STATION WAGON kwa Bi,Suzana Mkanzabi , msimamizi wa ruzuku kutoka shirika la AGPAHI.

EGPAF'S SPEECH FOR THE VEHICLE HANDOVER EVENT TO AGPAHI, FRIDAY, 12TH AUGUST2014
Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen.
I would like to welcome all of you to today’s event, especially our distinguished colleagues:

Ladies and Gentlemen.
Let me start by narrating a brief history of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) and the Ariel Glaser Pediatric Healthcare Initiative (AGPAHI):
In 1981, Elizabeth Glaser contracted HIV through a blood transfusion during the birth of her daughter, Ariel. Elizabeth later learned that she had unknowingly passed the virus on to both Ariel and her son, Jake.
Following Ariel’s death in 1988, Elizabeth joined with her friends, Susie Zeegen and Susan DeLaurentis, to create a foundation to bring hope to all children with HIV. Elizabeth lost her battle to AIDS in 1994, and today the foundation that bears her name continues her work. Thanks to the movement that Elizabeth started, we now have the science and medicines to make the elimination of pediatric AIDS a reality, and Elizabeth's son Jake , is a healthy young adult.
AGPAHI is an independent organization developed with support from EGPAF in 2011. As partners, AGPAHI and EGPAF works collaboratively with the government of Tanzania to reach people with essential HIV prevention, care, and treatment services. AGPAHI receives technical support and guidance from EGPAF, but it is an independent organization governed and led by citizens of Tanzania.
Today, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) grants one (1) brand new vehicle to (AGPAHI), This vehicle is a new NISSAN PATROL – STATION WAGON WITH 5 DOORS and it includes a comprehensive motor vehicle insurance. The total cost for purchasing this vehicle is USD 38,396(Tzs. 62,508,300/=).
The vehicle we are handing over today will be used to facilitate implementation of the Linking Initiatives For the Elimination of Pediatric HIV (LIFE) program by the AGPAHI field office in Shinyanga town to all districts across the three regions. This includes provision of technical support to the district Council Health Management Teams and the health facilities, including supportive supervision, mentorship activities to the health facilities and all other LIFE program related activities.
The LIFE program focuses on increasing access to integrated, quality, and comprehensive PMTCT, RCH and community based HIV/AIDS services; strengthening linkages and referral networks across services delivery points, and between facility and community-based services to ensure a continuum of care; and ensuring sustainability through a strengthened health system and through the transfer of capacity for management and oversight of activities to the local government and other local institutions.
Last but not least in importance, I would very much like to thank the American people for their generous funding and support through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for making this possible.
Ladies and Gentle men, I would like to conclude with the following quote from EGPAF's Founder, Elizabeth Glaser who said, “Sometimes in life there is that moment when it's possible to make a change for the better.” I believe that today is one of those moments. No single organization, government or leader can do it alone. But, by working together, we have seen what is possible. By working together we can do better. We can save more children and their families, both here in Tanzania
