It is worthy of note that violence suffered by women are more often meted out by intimate partners. This makes it not only physically damaging, but also emotionally and mentally exhausting.
Despite the Laws and Acts available to prosecute this infringement, many women never get justice mostly because they simply walk away or due to the cultural and traditional barriers as well as loopholes that makes the process an emotional and financially dredging one.
Sadly, some women are maimed or even lose their lives in these violent environments.
To put an end to all these, everyone must be concerned enough to TAKE ACTION:
1.The Government at all levels should invest in providing safe spaces and psychosocial support for women.
2. Society should stop stigmatizing women who take action (ending the relationship or prosecuting their Abusers ) when they have been violated.
3.Families and Friends should provide support for victims of violence rather than leaving them to bear the burden alone.
4.NGOs and CSOs should increase their Voice in Advocacy and Sensitization on ending Violence against Women and Girls.
5. The private sector is not excluded in this fight to ensure safer environments for women. Working environments must be free of all forms of violence by deliberate investments and partnerships towards this.
Violence against Women deprives society of the impact they can bring in developing a great society by reducing their productivity and increasing their need for mental and medical health attention.
Nearly one in every three women suffer violence and femicide (intentional killing of women and girls because of their gender) is a global concern.
