As preparations for the Tanzania Mental Health Summit gather momentum, the Executive Director of Women and Youth Development Solution (WAYDS), Mr. Charles Deogratius, and the Programs Manager, Ms. Thereza John, engaged in a productive meeting with the Shinyanga Regional Health Management Team (RHMT) on Monday, January 20, 2025.
The meeting, led by Regional Medical Officer Dr. Yudas Ndungile, aimed to strengthen collaboration in addressing the growing mental health challenges both in Shinyanga and across Tanzania. This strategic partnership is designed to ensure a unified and coordinated approach to mental health care as the country prepares for the upcoming summit.
The Tanzania Mental Health Summit, scheduled to take place in May 2025 at Kahama, Shinyanga Region, will serve as a pivotal platform for diverse stakeholders—including policymakers, healthcare professionals, mental health advocates, and community leaders—to come together and discuss innovative, integrative actions towards improving mental health systems in Tanzania.
With a special focus on youth participation and community-driven solutions, the summit will feature insightful discussions, presentations, and workshops aimed at tackling mental health challenges facing Tanzania today.
